Robert Marchand, age 105, doesn’t set world records--which he did recently by cycling 14 miles
(22.547 kilometers, to be exact) in 1 hour (that’s right – 1 hour)--for the prestige of being a champion. Instead, he breaks records because he likes to show how at 105, one can still ride a bicycle. Robert took up bicycling seriously at the young age of 68. Before then, he was too busy with work and such to be able to do earlier in his life. After completing 92 laps at the Velodrome National in Paris, the crowd gave him a standing ovation, crying out “Robert! Robert!”--a well-deserved accolade.
