Meet an “Amazing” With a Bright Mind That Never Quits

Barbara Walters, at 89, is a pioneer for women in network news.

Barbara Walters, at 89, has been a fixture for so long on so many television news and related programs that it’s easy to forget she was a pioneer for women in broadcasting.

Barbara worked her way up from writing and producing “women’s interest” segments on "The Today Show" in the early 1960s, to becoming the first female co-anchor of a nationwide network evening news program in 1976. Today, we see female co-anchors on all sorts of TV news programs--Barbara is who paved their way! The show she created and co-hosted for 16 years, "The View," continues to enthrall audiences.

Barbara’s awards are too numerous to mention, suffice it to say she’s been honored repeatedly--and deservedly--for her outstanding contributions to the media. Barbara continues to host specials in her “semi-retirement,” as she calls it. A bright mind that never quits!
