Meet an “AMAZING!” Dedicated to His Fire-Fighting Volunteering

Ken has been volunteering since the 1970s.

Ken Crymble, at 74, is part of one of the most important volunteer forces that most of us never think about – volunteer firefighters in rural areas that can't support a paid city-size fire department. Ken, who has been volunteering since the 70s, can’t help but notice the decline in volunteers-- a complex problem composed partially of limited job opportunities in rural areas (which means fewer younger individuals), and what appears to be less community involvement in general. That being said, Ken and his fellow volunteers are on call 24/7, helping to protect us all, serving in critical ways, often at great peril to themselves. Thank you, Ken!
