Meet an “Amazing” With a Life-Long Passion for Song

Vera Lynn is the first singer in history to release a new album at age 100.

Vera Lynn, age 100, celebrated her milestone birthday by being the first singer in history to release a new album at age 100. It’s a collection of her most famous songs, re-orchestrated in a completely new way.

Known as the British forces “sweetheart" during WWII, Vera boosted morale, when she travelled to such far flung places as Egypt, India and Myanmar to entertain the troops with her songs. Honored throughout her singing career, which started at age 7, Vera was made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth in 1974.

Vera describes her career as an incredible adventure of song, dance and friendship – which is still ongoing!
