Although John Sanmartini, age 86, had loved riding bicycles ever since he was a youth, he was only able to take up competitive cycling at 55, once he retired. He certainly has made up for lost time since then! He's ridden competitively in both the Huntsman World Senior Games and the National Senior Games for over 25 years. Not only that, but he was inducted into the Huntsman World Senior Games Hall of Fame – quite a feat! In the past few years he's ridden with his local Velo Avanti team. John stays in shape in order to ride, and trains five days a week on three different bicycles, all for the love of the sport.
