Meet “Amazing” Twins Who Shared the Adventure of a Lifetime

Identical twins Sue Hollinger and Elrose Couric, age 80, hiked the entire Appalachian Trail, all 2,190 miles of it. They hiked it in sections, over a period of 14 years, encountering bears, falls, near-drownings and

yellow-jacket attacks, to name but a few of the perils of this challenging trail.

Sue and Elrose started hiking together in their 60s after both were widowed within a couple of years of each other. Neither had hiked much before. The twins just were looking for a way to spend time together and bond.

The take-away from their experience? Goal setting works, and “it was fun!”
