Meet an “Amazing” With a Unique Artistic Gift

Ken Small, 84, never picked up a paintbrush until after his retirement.

Ken Small, at 84, is finally fully immersed in what has become his true passion – painting! Not painting houses or miniatures, Ken’s joy is to paint oil paintings, from creating enhanced versions of classic masterpieces, such as "The Bucintoro Returning to the Molo," by 18th Century Italian artist Canaletto, to original portraiture of Queen Elizabeth II.

Although Ken was intrigued by art as a child, he never picked up a paintbrush until after his retirement as a mechanic and having raised his family, which now includes five grandchildren. But once Ken applied paint to canvas – without the benefit of a single art lesson (!), he realized he’d found his true calling. His place, as he puts it “to shine”! And shine he does.
