Charlie Edwards, age 97, took up archery at the ripe young age of 92, never having held a bow and arrow before in his life. But what the heck, to Charlie, growing older is just a grand excuse to try new things.
A decorated WWII vet, Charlie betook himself to Fort Belvoir every week to use the military base’s indoor and outdoor ranges. At 96, he won the Gold Medal at the National Senior Games. He shot 180 arrows at six targets that were set at three different distances. To him, it’s all about the love of the sport--and a whole lot of practice!
