Meet an “AMAZING” Whose Helping Hands and Big Heart Know No Bounds
Susie Carland, 73, an intrepid traveler and world-class volunteer.

Susie Carland, age 73, is an intrepid traveler whose hiking adventures range from the Seven Sisters Mountain in Arizona to Mackinnon Pass on New Zealand’s arduous Milford Track. When not hiking, she pursued a highly successful real estate business for some 30 years, during which time she also managed to be the Mesa, Arizona Chamber of Commerce’s Woman of the Year (2005) and Volunteer of the Year (2015). Plus being the Mesa United Way’s Volunteer of the Year (2013) and a Board Member.
Currently, Susie is the outreach coordinator for Helen’s Hope Chest, a United Way Service that provides basic necessities and programs for Arizona foster children (3,000 served this Holiday Season alone)—which fits perfectly with her ongoing dedication to service and personal growth.
