Memorial and Paddle Out Honors Life of Surfer

Scott Lawton died Jan. 28 while doing what he loved—surfing in Malibu.

Friends and family of Scott Lawton gathered at Sunday morning to remember the Simi Valley resident who regularly surfed in Malibu. He died at age 66 of a heart attack Jan. 28 while surfing at County Line. The memorial was followed by a paddle out organized by the Malibu Surfing Association. Lawton was a longtime member of the MSA.

The MSA has established a memorial fund in Lawton's honor. All contributions will go to the Surfrider Foundation and donations are tax deductible. Checks should be made payable to MSA, and they should be sent to:
