9 Injured In Grisly Multi-Vehicle Crash On PCH In Malibu

All lanes in both directions of Pacific Coast Highway are closed while crews work to clear the scene.

MALIBU, CA – A multi-vehicle crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu Wednesday injured nine people, including two who were trapped in the wreckage and freed with power tools. Paramedics were sent to the 20100 block of Pacific Coast Highway near Big Rock Drive at 1:22 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Both of the people trapped in the wreckage were freed and taken to a hospital by helicopter, a department inspector said. The remaining seven were taken by ground ambulance; four of them sustained minor injuries.

As many as seven vehicles were involved, according to the California Highway Patrol. Pacific Coast Highway remained blocked in both directions while crews worked to clear the scene.
