Narrow Win Drives Sharks Tennis Into CIF Semifinals
Malibu High School's girls varsity tennis team defeats Valencia High on Tuesday in the CIF Southern Section Division 3 quarterfinals. This is the Sharks' first time in the semifinals since 2004.

The girls varsity tennis team survived a close CIF tournament match at on Tuesday. The Sharks prevailed against Valencia High 9-9, (74-58) in a match that was decided with a tiebreaker.
The CIF Southern Section Division 3 tournament win earned Malibu a spot in the semifinals for the first time since 2004.
While the Sharks' doubles effort led Malibu to victory in , this time it was the singles lineup that made the difference. Ilana Oleynik, Lauren Louks and Britta Mosser won all nine sets with scores of 6-0 or 6-1.

The two schools each won nine sets, so the winner was determined based on number of games won in the match. The Sharks had the edge.
Malibu will play in San Juan Capistrano on Thursday against second-seeded St. Margaret's. A victory would put the Sharks in the championship match Monday morning at The Claremont Club in Claremont.
