Newlywed Couple Stuck After Accident While On Honeymoon

The couple was honeymooning in Bora Bora when the unthinkable happened.

MALIBU, CA – A newlywed couple was honeymooning in Bora Bora when the unthinkable happened. The day before John and Alana Knight were to head home to start their new lives together as husband and wife, John had an accident and fractured his vertebrae.

John was transported via airplane to the main island of Tahiti for emergency surgery, Alana's childhood friend Dori Lancaster wrote on a GoFundMe established for the couple. He's now currently in the ICU in Tahiti and is stable, but he can't move his left leg much and must get oxygen treatments every four hours. Although John has insurance, the expenses are unknown and it's causing a great amount of stress for the couple, she wrote.

"John and Alana have a long road ahead. They will need to get back to the states and most likely will need medical assistance on the flight, especially if John still needs oxygen treatments," Lancaster wrote. "Their flights home will also have to come out of pocket."

Neither have anymore paid time off, and Alana is currently paying out of pocket to stay in a hotel near the hospital, according to the GoFundMe. Lancaster is asking for contributions to go towards the couple's costs incurred after the accident – and if monetary donations aren't an option, she asks that their story is spread and prayers are sent.

"John and Alana appreciate all the love and support – they can feel it from afar," Lancaster wrote. "They thank you from the bottom of their hearts for your generosity and kindness."
