Ocean Rescue Tally in Malibu So Far Today: 65

Somewhere between 30-40 were made with the help of a personal watercraft.

Los Angeles County lifeguards say they have carried out as many as 65 rescues today in the Malibu area alone.

They say 30-40 were made with the help of a personal watercraft, along with 10 to 15 “swim rescues.”

One of them involved a surfer who was clinging to a piling under the Malibu Pier after losing his surfboard. The surfer was unharmed and was brought safely ashore.
