Overnight Closure Planned For Topanga Canyon Boulevard

TOPANGA, CA — A stretch of Topanga Canyon Boulevard will be fully closed overnight Monday into Tuesday as crews continue work on a stormwater drainage project in Topanga Canyon.

The closure will be in effect between Grand View Drive and Pacific Coast Highway from 11:59 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Before the full closure, motorists should expect one-way traffic control with flaggers between 9 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. near mile marker 2.5. The temporary one-lane section will extend for less than a mile.

The work is part of a project to install an 84-inch reinforced concrete pipe beneath the highway, replacing an existing 34-inch pipe. According to Caltrans, the larger pipe is designed to carry more water and mud during heavy storms, helping reduce debris flows onto the roadway.

Crews are reconfiguring traffic lanes so the installation can be completed behind protective barriers while minimizing impacts on traffic. The project also includes a new drainage system and an access road for future maintenance.

The drainage improvements are part of Caltrans' ongoing recovery work following the Palisades Fire and subsequent storms. Construction is expected to continue through November 2026.
