Overturned Crane Topples Into Power Pole, Killing 1 In Malibu
Las Flores Canyon Road will remain closed for much of Thursday as crews work to repair downed power lines after Wednesday's crane crash.

MALIBU, CA — The operator of a crane was killed Wednesday evening after it toppled over and crashed into a pole, causing downed power lines and a road closure expected to last much of Thursday.
Firefighters responded to the crane crash near Las Flores Canyon Road at around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. It's unclear what caused the crash and the operator's name has not been released by authorities.
Las Flores Canyon Road between Pacific Coast Highway and Hume Road will remain closed at least through Thursday afternoon as Southern California Edison continues to work to repair the downed lines and restore power to customers in the area, according to the city of Malibu.

The utility's outage map showed there were no Malibu customers without power as of 9:15 a.m.
