SEE: Pelicans Plunge Into University's Graduation Ceremony

The pelicans entered the ceremony with pomp and circumstance – one even took a seat in the middle of the crowd.

MALIBU, CA – Two party-crashing pelicans took a plunge into the crowd at Pepperdine University's graduation ceremony over the weekend, adding a surprise to the pomp and circumstance. Video taken at the ceremony show two brown pelicans wreaking havoc through the crowd – when one man tried picking up the pelican, he got a face full of beak, NBC reported.

A group effort eventually led to one of the pelicans getting scooped up and tossed back into the air, only to have it land on the red carpet – where the star of the show really belongs. Pelicans can dive from about 60 feet in the air when they plunge into ocean water for food, according to NBC.

Although the pelicans resisted getting kicked out of graduation, they both eventually waddled away, according to Fox40.

"When your university is located next to the Pacific Ocean, at some point pelicans are bound to crash your graduation," wrote Grant Dillon, who posted the video to Youtube.
