PEYTON MANNING: HOF QB, SUPER BOWL CHAMP, AND CLASS ACT

Peyton Manning is a quality human being...as well as being one of the best QB's of all time.

Peyton Manning is a guy I like to root for...I don’t like Pro Football much these days...(I won’t get into that now) but guys like Peyton Manning give it a good name. I can’t help but cheer for this guy. Peyton is all class in victory AND in defeat. A couple of years ago the Broncos got crushed in the Super Bowl against the Seahawks. Their offense was completely inept and Manning was the Captain of the Ship. Manning was humiliated...but he handled the press conference with total class...taking personal responsibility for his role in the loss...AND, congratulating the team that beat him.

He handled all questions and took it with grace....he probably understands that even though his team lost this Super Bowl he still was getting paid his 20 million dollar salary. He was going home to his family after playing in the Super Bowl and he had very little to complain about in light of how blessed his life has been.

It’s tough for anyone to remember that when you are so close to winning the coveted Lombardi Trophy...but, Manning remembered....he acted the way you would hope all athletes would act in defeat..

From all indicators it seems like Manning’s life has balance. He puts football in perspective...plus, he is truly a very funny guy when he does commercials or appears on SNL. He really has comedic skills...

Another QB who didn’t win last Sunday’s Super Bowl chose to pout and whine and not even congratulate the winning team. He chose to be smug to reporters and not even answer questions. He was a very poor example for any kid who was watching. He is apparently not keeping things in perspective...he will go home to his mansion..his healthy and privileged family...and the promise of making 20 plus million a year for years to come..with countless other opportunities to reach the Super Bowl. Let’s hope he gets perspective in time for that next Super Bowl.

And, by the way...Peyton Manning is almost certainly one of the 5 greatest QB’s of all time. I don’t think that is too controversial though some may disagree. It hasn’t gotten to his head.

Food for thought....
