Rain, Rockslides Caused Troubles for Motorists in Malibu

LOS ANGELES, CA — Heavy rain resulted in some flooding and lane closures on Los Angeles roadways Monday.

A rockslide about 5 a.m. caused flat tires for some vehicles at Las Virgenes and Piuma roads in Malibu, the CHP reported.

A mud slide at 5:19 a.m. blocked lanes of the transition road from the northbound Foothill (210) Freeway to the northbound Orange (57) Freeway in Glendora.

About 6 a.m., there was some flooding on the Washington Boulevard offramp from the northbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway.

And about 6:20 a.m., a rockslide was reported on Angeles Crest Highway.

Earlier, some flooding was reported at 4:35 a.m. in the fast lane of the Glen Anderson (105) Freeway at Nash Street in El Segundo, and at 80th Street and Avenue T in the Littlerock.

In the South Bay, authorities searched a section of the Dominguez Channel in the Gardena area for a man possibly stranded in the waters.

Authorities went to the 1200 block of Cassidy Street in Gardena about 5:15 a.m. after a woman reported her male friend might be in the rain-swollen Dominguez Channel nearby, the county fire department reported.

Searchers looked for the man but had not found him after more than two hours. The man was determined to be missing, a Los Angeles County Fire Department official said. The woman, who told authorities she had been in the water but got out on her own, was taken to a hospital for examination.
