Red Flag Warning: Malibu Weekly Weather Forecast

MALIBU, CA – Red flag warnings will be in force Monday through at least Thursday in Los Angeles county denoting a high danger of wildfires due to strong Santa Ana winds and low humidity, according to the National Weather Service. This will likely be the strongest and longest duration Santa Ana wind event we have seen so far this season, which runs from late September through April, according to an NWS statement.

The strongest winds will be Monday and Tuesday, said NWS meteorologist Curt Kaplan. Santa Ana winds could persist into Friday or Saturday, which would requite that red flag warnings to be extended, the NWS said.

"If fire ignition occurs, there will be the potential for very rapid fire spread ... and extreme fire behavior," according to NWS.

Clear, with a low around 44. Breezy, with a north northeast wind 20 to 25 mph decreasing to 10 to 15 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

Sunny, with a high near 75. Breezy, with a north northeast wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
