The Roses of the Huntington Gardens
The Malibu Garden Club proudly presents "King of the Roses," Tom Carruth on January 7th, 2015 @ 7:00 p.m.

Tom will talk about the Huntington’s three-acre Rose Garden, which showcases more than 1,200 cultivars and some 4,000 individual shrubs.
From 1987 until early 2012, he was in charge of the rose hybridizing effort as Director of Research & Marketing at Weeks Roses. Tom is the inventor of over 90 plant patents, accumulating 11 AARS Award Winners in just 14 years, including “Dick Clark” (2011), “Cinco de Mayo” (2009) and “Julia Child” (2006). He has over 100 introductions to his credit with numerous national & international awards. One of the ‘stars’ from Tom’s work includes “Ebb Tide.”
Tom retired from Weeks Roses to take a new role as the Curator of the Rose Collection at the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens. Tom is overseeing the renovation of the rose garden with an eye on refocusing the rose collection to equal the beauty of the many other spectacular gardens at the Huntington.
