THE "SELFIE" WORLD...
Enjoy the "selfie's"...but maybe take a deeper picture next time...

I am concerned with a world that I see as being increasingly obsessed with the packaging…..there is no question that the media and pop culture drive this….but we take the bait and just gobble it up…There is very little expectation of substance…and character….a guy or girl can cruise through their whole life just on their appearance alone …..the “book” should always be about what is inside…and not the cover….we judge people too often (if not exclusively) by the way they look, the car they drive, their bodies, etc…since when did this become a substitute for character...? I know that people have it in them….but pop culture is telling them to only focus and invest in their appearance….and not to increase their knowledge, awareness, thoughtfulness, depth…etc.. The “selfie” era has made us overly obsessed with our “look”. It is no substitute for substance, compassion, empathy…adventurous-ness, even.
what would a ”selfie” of Kayla Mueller’s heart look like?...what would a ”selfie” of Malala’s compassion and determination look like? What would a “selfie” of Oskar Schindler’s empathy look like?
just opinions....
