Sharks Baseball Sets Record for Most Wins in School History

Malibu beats Santa Clara 4-3 on Friday to complete a 3-game sweep.

The Malibu High School boys baseball team beat Santa Clara 4-3 on April 19 to complete a 3-game sweep, moving the team to 18-3 overall and an 8-1 league record.

The Sharks then beat Santa Paula Thursday and are now 19-3 overall and 9-1 in the conference. Against Santa Clara, sophomore lefty Andre Simoneau went 4.2 innings, giving up two unearned runs. Freshman Ezra Allen picked up the win by ending Santa Clara's rally in the 5th and Chase Lambert closed for his 7th save. He now has 48 strikeouts in 22.1 innings.

Freshman Dylan Ross hit a two-run double and sophomore Austin George added another game-winning RBI double. Senior Riley McMillin addd an RBI sacrifice fly after a perfect sac bunt from senior Frank Thomas. Lambert added two more hits. Malibu has now had three-game sweeps over Fillmore and Santa Clara.

This week is a huge league showdown as Santa Paula is in 2nd place at 6-4. The Sharks won their first two meetings of the year 5-1, in which Ezra Allen and Noah Simon combined for a rare no-hitter, and Wednesday where Lambert went 3-for-4 and struck out four in two innings of relief work for his 8th save of the year. He now has 52 K's in 23 innings this year.

Noah Simon is now 8-1 on the year and the Sharks ace is having a stellar year. The Sharks have 19 wins with five league games to go and then CIF playoffs, and 19 is the most wins in school history.
