Sharks Baseball Wins Third Straight
The 14-4 victory for Malibu High's baseball team advances the squad to the semifinals of the Southern California Invitational.

The varsity baseball team had an impressive 14-4 victory over Lawndale on Wednesday. The win advances the Sharks (3-0) to the semifinals of the Southern California Invitational Tournament.
Senior Matt Gruskin pitched six innings for his first win of the year and added a double and two RBI. The offense got going when NCAA Division I-bound Jordan Simon hit a deep triple and later scored the Sharks' first run. Sophomore shortstop Chase Lambert added 3 RBI, a double and a perfectly executed squeeze bunt. Senior Mark Stevenson also had 3 RBI and senior Hunter Johnson and Junior Jake Bittan both hit two-run doubles.
The Sharks will play Mary Star of the Sea from San Pedro at Malibu High on Friday at 3 p.m. The winner moves on to the tournament's championship game at Royal High in Simi Valley on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Malibu's JV team is also undefeated this season, with two wins. Come out on Friday to watch some great baseball as the Sharks look to continue their winning ways.
