boys varsity basketball team looked decidedly rusty in its season-opening loss to Oak Park (72-37) on Monday. But the Sharks bounced back with a 52-36 win against Channel Islands on Wednesday. Justin Holmes led the Sharks in the victory over the Raiders with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Jack Platner had 10 points and seven assists, while Anthony Kodomichalos helped the effort with seven points, seven rebounds and four assists. In a scheduling quirk, Malibu does not play a home game until Jan. 13, when it faces Villanova. The Sharks play again on Dec. 23 at Rio Mesa. They have upcoming tournaments at Viewpoint, Pacifica and Orlando, Fla during the holiday break.
