Superintendent to Present 'State of Our Schools'
Sandra Lyon and local principals will speak to the community Monday night at Malibu City Hall.

Malibu residents will have an opportunity to hear from Sandra Lyon, superintendent of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, and local public school principals on Monday at the seventh annual "State of Our Schools" community report.
The event will take place at . According to a statement on the SMMUSD's website, Lyon will cover the following topics:
- Student achievement
- Educational initiatives
- SMMUSD's financial health
The principals from Malibu's four public schools will "share information about programs that help students succeed and make successful transitions to their next grade level."

The report comes during a tense time for the SMMUSD. The Board of Education in November created by Lyon that many people believe will wreck programs at Malibu schools. There is growing sentiment in Malibu that the SMMUSD is a Santa Monica organization with little to no interest in what happens in this city and with its schools.

The "State of Our Schools" report will be given from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. City Hall is located at 23825 Stuart Ranch Road.
A second "State of Our Schools" is scheduled for Tuesday in Santa Monica. It will focus on Santa Monica's public schools. The event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Thelma Terry Building in Virginia Avenue Park, located at 2200 Virginia Ave.
