Tax Law Expert Paul L. Caron To Head Pepperdine Law School

Caron will formally begin his responsibilities on June 1. He and his wife, Courtney, live in Malibu.

MALIBU, CA -- Pepperdine University announced this week that tax law expert Paul L. Caron will become the fifth dean of its law school.

Caron, currently associate dean for research and faculty development and professor of law, will formally begin his responsibilities as dean of the Pepperdine University School of Law on June 1.

"Since his first days as a distinguished visiting scholar through his selection as a tenured professor and now his candid and strategic participation in this search process, I have admired Professor Caron for his keen intellect, generous outreach to others and his sterling reputation within the national legal community," said Pepperdine President Andrew K. Benton.

"It will be a privilege to work side-by-side with him to advance the Pepperdine School of Law, an entity we both hold in high esteem," Benton said. "He will be, I believe, a remarkable law dean."

Caron came to the law school in 2010 as a visiting professor, became a tenured faculty member in 2013 and assumed the role of associate dean for research and faculty development in 2015.

Previously, Caron was the associate dean of faculty as well as a professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

Caron has written more than 50 books and scholarly articles and is the publisher and editor of the Tax Prof Blog on the Internet. He is also the owner and publisher of the Law Professor Blogs Network of more than 50 blogs in other areas of law edited by law professors around the country.

Caron holds degrees from Boston University, Cornell Law School and Georgetown University. He and his wife, Courtney, live in Malibu.
