As many of us travel far and wide to join loved ones in celebration, please know there is a simple gesture to show your gratitude and respect to our servicemen and women that cross our paths. Whether it is in a crowded airport, a restaurant or even stopped at a light in traffic - one simple gesture is all it takes to convey your appreciation for the freedoms they insure every day.
To make the gesture simply place your hand on your heart as though you're saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Then pull your hand down and out, bending at the elbow (not the wrist) in one straight motion stopping for a moment at about the belly button with your hand flat, palm up, angled toward the person you're thanking. Think of it as though you’re handing this person your heart.
Thank you for Thanking Them! Don't forget the Veterans, too many didn't receive this recognition when they should have - they earned it as much as those in uniform today and are often the ones who perform this gesture to active duty in uniform.
