Trump: Clearly Inspired by Lincoln's Abuse of Power.

President's acting like Kings....It's not at all what we had in mind.

"I can be more presidential than any President that this country has ever had
except for Abraham Lincoln, Right? You can't out-top Abraham Lincoln."

Not when it comes to violating the U.S. Constitution you can't. Honest Abe wrote the manual for how to abuse the Constitution. Trump can only dream of being that dictatorial.

If you don't learn from history it often repeats itself. The United
States learned nothing from Vietnam so we got an Iraq experience that
has proven to be even more disastrous on a global level.

So too, the lesson of Presidential excesses wasn't learned. Lincoln
felt above the will of the people and above the Constitution. No U.S.
President violated the Constitution more consistently and more
egregiously; it's not even close. Abe treated it like Kleenex, or worse. We know Trump loves Lincoln and in
waging a war with half of America Lincoln didn't let laws and the
Constitution get in his way. He thought himself greater. He did what
the Founding Fathers were terrified of. Lincoln suspended the writ of
Habeus Corpus by imprisoning dissenters without due process, halting free speech, stopping
the newspapers (sound familiar) and threatening to imprison the sitting
U.S. Supreme Court Justice.
This is precedent for Donald Trump.
He sees that for Lincoln no one remembers this...Lincoln is treated like
Christ in our country and he acted like a King in a monarchy. His "ends"
justifies "his" means.
Trump can point to Lincoln and say, "when I fire anyone who wants to investigate me for collusion I'm
doing just what Lincoln would have done during the war to preserve his
power".
We are a government of laws, and not men. John Wilkes
Booth did what the United States system of law and "checks and balances"
would not do.
