V's...A Malibu Dining Experience!

I have been in town for about 5 year now....I've been to many of the restaurants...virtually all of the ones from "Plate" to Pt. Dume.  There are a lot of really good ones that I enjoy.  I had never been to the "Charlie's" restaurant that preceded "V's" and had never gotten around to visiting "V's", either.  A friend of mine, Debbie Weiss, told me her favorite restaurant in town was "V's".  I was looking for an excuse to visit that romantically lighted restaurant across from the towering Mexican with a sombrero at "La Salsa" on PCH, just a little west of Nobu.

I had a friend and his family come in from the Bay Area this weekend and we thought we would try out "V's".  The moment I opened the door and saw the bar and the atmosphere, and the gentle lighting, and "cozy, modern" decor..I knew I was in the right place.  If there was any doubt, when I saw UCLA stalwart and Malibu restaurant connoisseur, Richard Scott, I had confirmation!

They led us to our table and I got excited knowing that I was potentially in for a culinary ride.  If the food was anything like the visuals, we were all in good shape.  Interior Design gets a 10/10.

The menu was perfect.  Too many great options to choose from...I started with a butter lettuce and belgian endive salad that had, pt reyes bleu cheese / candied walnut / pink lady apple / honey-apple cider vinaigrette.....it was easily one of the best salads I have ever had.  So good, that they could have served me a gas stationi hot dog as the main course and I would have still called the dinner exquisite.

For cocktails a perfectly made Cosmopolitan by a sublime brunette bartender with an exotic first name.  Not too sweet, not too boozy.  I don't sit at bars but if I did, I would sit at that one.

My friend had a baby spinach salad and he raved.  For Main course I split a salmon entree and a pepperoni pizza with his daughter.  The salmon was cooked perfectly and had all the flavor that a high quality, properly cooked salmon promises; served on the most delicious bed of brown rice, pickled mushrooms, and sauteed spinach that you could imagine.  Incredible flavor and texture!  Pepperoni Pizza, thin crusted and excellent.

My friend was equally impressed with his halibut....some great service by all the staff and some rich chocolate gelato that we all rated 9/10 on the gelato scale..."10's" reserved for Italy....and we were all floating with the thought that we had discovered a buried treasure....

I loved this place and I am going back....already have plans.  They even have a "kid's" menu.

Food for thought....
