Waterspout Spotted Off the Malibu Coast
A pilot reported a waterspout off the coast, and a big thunderstorm off Malibu's Point Dume has prompted waterspout warnings.
The National Weather service radar spotted a big thunderstorm off Malibu’s Point Dume just before 8:30 tonight, and warned it could produce a waterspout.
The dangerous storm was centered 10 miles southeast of Point Dume.
That came several hours after airplane pilots radioed in reports of funnel clouds they spotted off the coast of Los Angeles tonight.

The National Weather Service reported two waterspouts were seen by an airplane pilot, 16 miles south of Point Dume, at 5 p.m.
Another pilot reported spotting one funnel cloud 25 miles west-southwest of Redondo Beach.
