What's happening with Cornucopia Malibu Farmers' Market?

The City of Malibu's Planning Commission trying to reassure that the Malibu Farmers' Market continues to operate during SMC construction

Malibu's own Cornucopia Malibu Farmers' Market is currently in limbo regarding their right to stay at their current location, the Malibu Library parking lot on Sundays. The County of Los Angeles, who owns the property has so far always renewed the lease with the non-profit operator of the Market, the Cornucopia Foundation on annual basis, however the current lease is due to end in mid-March. This is due to the construction of the Santa Monica College. The County had previously promised to the Cornucopia Foundation that the Malibu Farmers' Market was able to operate in its full capacity during the construction of the Santa Monica College (please see the attached transcript).

During the meeting of Malibu Planning Commission on February 6, 2017, Chairman John Mazza wanted to reassure that the County of Los Angeles kept their word on allowing the Malibu Farmers' Market continue operating at the current location during the construction. (click here to see the video)

The Cornucopia Foundation has been known for it's ongoing support of many local environmental and children's programs. Recently, the Cornucopia Foundation has donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Malibu, the Malibu Monarch Project, Poison Free Malibu and the local schools and PTA's just to mention a few. The Malibu Farmers' Market is a crucial part of Malibu community. The residents of Malibu are in an uproar.
