WHEN YOU ARE A PUBLIC SERVANT...YOUR "LEGACY" SHOULD BE AN AFTERTHOUGHT

I am hearing a lot lately from political pundits about whether or not (this or that) politician will harm his ”legacy” if he does this or that...I just heard today...if Biden runs for President and doesn’t win...will this harm his ”legacy”?.

“What does it mean for Obama’s legacy if he doesn’t pass the Iran deal, etc.?”

Do these people really hear what they are saying? THIS is the problem! If you are a public servant...a representative of the people...and you have the PRIVILEGE of being an elected official....your responsibility is to lead the country effectively, period.....it is not to be conscious of your ”legacy”. That is what boxers are thinking about...”their legacy”...that is what pro football players are thinking about....or film director’s, the person who is trying to defend his title as the world’s greatest hot dog eater..... .....

thinking about how you will be remembered? Really? Take the “you” out of that and replace it with ...”how will my country be benefited”? How many people in politics think like that....(more than a dozen?)

I don’t want a narcissistic and self conscious President who has even the slightest consideration about how a particular decision will affect his legacy.....you can think about your legacy when you are reading books to your great grandchildren in a rocking chair.....

can you imagine pausing before you go into a burning building to rescue someone to think if your deed will earn you a medal or not?

When recording star Helen Reddy was asked how she wanted to be remembered she said this:

“I don’t care if I am remembered at all...only that any good that I have ever done lives on”
