ZERO TOLERANCE .........

I have often wondered how it is that people, many high ranking and powerful, and some famous and prestigious…are able to hoist their moral authority and their heads up high…..even when confronted with their own dishonesty, greed, and lack of integrity….

The most disturbing part is not that people tell lies….and cheat, etc….though that is quite unsettling, but it is that the people doing the lying and cheating feel no shame….it doesn’t disrupt their own self image--which begs the question..how does one develop and sustain a self image?…..is it through wealth, or power, or athletic ability….? That should hardly be enough to sustain a positive self image when that image is so often saturated with unscrupulous behavior, misogynistic behavior, cheating, etc.. I rarely even see remorse when someone is caught cheating or telling lies….and if so, it is only to control the damage that they have already done to themselves.

It is hard to escape it….politics, at the highest levels….sports, business….entertainment…I am shocked that people can still hold their heads up after pulling the proverbial “wool” over someone’s eyes. After all, what is it that makes one feel good about oneself? If you are Donald Trump, then you know what that is…money and power, that is all he needs to stand up straight….if you are Tom Brady, all you need is a Super Bowl Ring and a supermodel for a wife to stand up straight….yet, those “trinkets” should hardly be enough to outweigh dishonesty and lack of integrity….

Who is even telling the Truth these days, anyways? We can’t even expect it form our most venerable and beloved news anchors. The drive to be a “winner” supersedes everything. Who isn’t so concerned with their own personal welfare that they aren’t willing to drug, cheat, subjugate, or deceive in order for things to go their way…..?

I had it easy I guess....my parents were acutely honest and upstanding. I never got a conflicting message from either one of them. My uncles and aunts, cousins....were and are very ethical and honest, considerate people. For the most part, my close friends have all been people I could trust to act honestly and fairly. I never had a bad example. The road was already paved for me.

The more we as a society are willing to overlook these substandard human displays, whether it be from a Super Bowl QB or a politician, a comedian, etc., the more we will become desensitized; the further away from a civilized society we will find ourselves.
