2 Suspects Arrested In South Bay Shooting

Police said the victim suffered minor injuries and the two suspects related to the incident in Hermosa Beach were arrested.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA — Two suspects were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder stemming from a shooting that left a man injured in Hermosa Beach.

John Lars Holland, 74, and John Rogers, 68, were arrested in connection with the shooting that occurred around 8:30 p.m. Monday near the 2000 block of Hermosa Avenue, according to the Hermosa Beach Police Department.

Police said shots were fired from a vehicle toward a male victim who was in a parked car. The victim suffered only minor injuries. It was unclear if the person was actually shot or suffered related injuries.

According to police, at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, investigators spotted the vehicle that was believed to be tied to the shooting and arrested the driver, Holland. During the arrest, detectives recovered a 9mm semi-automatic handgun from the vehicle, consistent with the gun used in the Monday night attack, police said.

Rogers was tracked to a residence on Tuesday afternoon, and he surrendered to authorities around 3 p.m., police said.

"I commend our detectives and patrol officers who did a phenomenal job solving the crime and arresting the suspects in less than 24 hours," Hermosa Beach police Chief Paul LeBaron said in a statement. "I also want to thank Manhattan, Gardena and El Segundo police departments for their help."
