The 57th Manhattan Beach Open marks the longest running, continuous tournament in the sport of beach volleyball. The AVP returns to the birthplace of beach volleyball as the most talented men and women, in the sport, battle it out to have their names enshrined on the well regarded Manhattan Beach Pier. The world renowned event will feature a full festival village, MBO Legend’s match, kid’s clinic, athlete signings, movie night, interactive games, and the annual MBO Walk of Fame Pier Ceremony.
The 2016 tournament will be celebrating 57 years of beach volleyball tradition by honoring greats of the past and present. The celebration begins with the Volleyball Walk of Fame red carpet ceremony at the Manhattan Beach Pier Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 3:00 PM to honor last year’s men’s and women’s champions, April Ross, Jen Fopma, Phil Dalhausser, and Nick Lucena.
Please note that Manhattan Beach Boulevard will be closed west of Ocean from 7/11 through 7/19. During event hours (Thursday @ 8am – Sunday @6pm), Manhattan Beach Boulevard will be closed west of Manhattan Avenue, and Ocean Drive will be closed from 11th Street to 12th Street.
Please plan accordingly.
PARKING
Valet will be offered on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 11 pm for $9. Limited number available. There are two drop-off locations:
– MB Post (1142 Manhattan Ave, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
– Fonz’s (1017 Manhattan Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266)
CLOSEST PUBLIC PARKING OPTIONS
There is no dedicated event parking, attendees of the MBO may utilize the public lots throughout the City of Manhattan Beach. Standard parking rules apply. PUBLIC SHUTTLE
The MBO will offer a FREE public shuttle from a remote parking lot for those attending the event on Saturday and Sunday. Details are below.
DATES AND HOURS OF OPERATION:
Saturday, July 16th 7am – 7pm
Sunday, July 17th 8:30am – 5pm
SHUTTLE PARKING LOCATION:
Manhattan Village Field – 1300 Park View Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 (west of Manhattan Country Club)
The Parking Lot will be open and free to all users (subject to availability). Shuttle will run continuously during hours of operation. Please allow 20 – 25 minutes for shuttle to loop.
Drop off location will be the Manhattan Beach Vons (410 Manhattan Beach Blvd, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266) and the event site is a short 5 minute walk down the hill.
