7 Accused Jewelry Thieves Arrested In Manhattan Beach

A smash-and-grab robbery at a local jewelry store led to the arrests of seven people, including two minors, Wednesday according to MBPD.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — A smash-and-grab robbery at a local jewelry store in Manhattan Beach led to the arrests of seven people, including two minors, Wednesday night according to the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to Pasha's Fine Jewelry at 217 Manhattan Beach Blvd. at 5:53 p.m. after reports of a robbery. When they arrived, they found multiple broken glass cases and missing jewelry.

"Multiple suspects entered the jewelry store, used hammers to break display cases, and fled the store with miscellaneous merchandise," MBPD said in a statement. "The suspects entered awaiting vehicles and fled the scene southbound in an alley."

According to MBPD, the suspects appeared to be armed with handguns, but no shots were fired at the store.

Less than two hours after the robbery, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a car that they believed was involved in the getaway. Officers said the driver refused to stop, so MBPD gave chase after the car and eventually apprehended five adult suspects.

Additionally, another separate traffic stop led to the arrests of two 17-year-old suspects MBPD said. Jewelry and other items believed to be taken from Pasha's were found in both of the vehicles according to authorities.

MBPD SWAT officers worked with the Gardena SWAT team as well as the Los Angeles Police Department to serve a search warrant in L.A. Thursday morning as detectives continue to investigate the incident.
