A Few Playful Waves

The surf isn't wonderful but there are some waves to ride.

Waking up with the waves on Monday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Manhattan Beach Patch surf report. Well, it's almost back to small mode, but you can still find a few playful size waves.

The conditions are mostly clean and glassy early on, with a combination of some minor leftover west northwest swell and a touch of lingering southerly energy. That recipe is providing some fast semi-wally lines, with a few makeable corners.  Look for that shape to improve once the tide fills in a bit.

Most Manhattan Beach spots are seeing knee to stomach high waves, with the focal points pulling an occasional chest high set.

At 5:19 this morning the tide dropped to a 1.5 low which will have many spots lacking water early on. The tide then climbs back up to a 3.9 high at 11:03 later this morning and then drops once again to a 1.0 low at 5:14 this evening, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

If you're planning on paddling, break out at least a 3/2 fullsuit and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees. See ya in the water!
