Aircraft Crashes Near Manhattan Beach, 1 Injured
An ultralight "trike" aircraft lost power and crashed at Hawthorne Municipal Airport, Monday. One was injured in the incident.

HAWTHORNE, CA — An ultralight aircraft crashed Monday at the Hawthorne Municipal Airport. Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene where the small "trike" style ultralight plane went down.
The pilot of the "homebuilt" aircraft lost control on the airport surface, resulting in the injury wreck, according to Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration's preliminary statement.
The circumstances of the crash were under investigation as of this report, and the pilot's name was not released.

"There were no other aircraft involved in the crash," according to the LA County Fire spokesperson.
Paramedics arrived at the airport in the 12100 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard shortly before 1 p.m.

There was no fire, and the aircraft appeared to have sustained minimal damage, according to a department information officer.
The pilot was treated and released at the scene, according to the LA County fire spokesperson.
