
Given recent directives from RFK, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, we look forward to welcoming Lucas Wilson (he/him) who will be speaking on the issue of Conversion Therapy and the importance of avoiding this type of harmful therapy.
About our Presenter:
Lucas Wilson is a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Toronto Mississauga and was formerly the Justice, Equity, and Transformation Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Calgary. He is the editor of Shame-Sex Attraction: Survivors’ Stories of Conversion Therapy (Jessica Kingsley Publishers). His public-facing writing has appeared in The Advocate, Queerty, LGBTQ Nation, and Religion Dispatches, among other venues. He is currently working on two new edited collections: Don't Ask, Tell All: Stories of Christian Colleges' Anti-Queer Regimes (under contract with The University of Georgia Press) and Queer and Trembling: Stories of LGBTQ+ Religious Trauma (Jessica Kingsley Publishers).
Our monthly meeting welcomes the entire spectrum of LGBTQ+ community, friends, families, and allies for rich conversation and supportive community. These meetings are held both IN PERSON and VIA ZOOM.
Meetings are in-person at the allCove Cafe on the 1st floor of Beach Cities Health District's main building, 514 N. Prospect Ave, RB, CA 90277. Look for PFLAG signage to help guide you into the building.
