The Point

Manhattan Beach Cars &amp; Coffee is back for another month, another packed lot, and another incredible Saturday morning with the South Bay and LA car community. With summer officially kicking off, this is your sign to pull the cover off, finish the detail, top off the tank, and head down to the South Bay’s favorite enthusiast gathering.
This month we once again welcome all makes and models — from vintage classics and air-cooled legends to exotics, modern performance, JDM, European, trucks, bikes, and everything in between. We will have 150+ show spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the main lot fills, all incoming traffic will be directed to the overflow parking lot closer to The Point, so please respect staff and volunteer direction once capacity is reached.
As always, MB Cars &amp; Coffee is completely free, with no RSVP or pre-registration required. The event is open not only to enthusiasts, but also local families, friends, and anyone looking for a fun Saturday morning atmosphere surrounded by incredible cars and great people.
We are also extremely excited to officially announce our newest annual partners and sponsors — Bulletproof Automotive &amp; Unplugged Performance. We are proud to welcome them as monthly residents at the show, so make sure to stop by, say hello, and learn more about the amazing things they are doing within the automotive world and enthusiast community.
And of course, world-famous cookies and pastries from Pit Stop Bakery will be back this month as well.
Every month the cars, people, and energy somehow get even better, and we truly cannot wait to see what rolls in this Saturday morning. Be sure to catch us at the front of the show and say hello.

<h2>Hills Are Alive 5K/10K Race Returns May 30</h2>
The City of Rolling Hills Estates invites the community to participate in the Annual Hills Are Alive 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. at Ernie Howlett Park, where participants will start and finish a scenic course through the City’s bridle trails. The route offers a unique opportunity to experience the natural beauty and rural character of Rolling Hills Estates.
<h3>Registration</h3>
Registration is now open for the 2026 race.

Participants who register prior to Friday, May 29 may pick up race packets at City Hall (Council Chambers), located at 4045 Palos Verdes Drive North, on Friday, May 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Participants who register on May 29 or the day of the race may pick up their packets at Ernie Howlett Park on race day.

May is the gateway to summer, and with the beautiful work in these three solo artists’ exhibitions, it’s time to step through each wonderful passage they present and explore their visionary work. Gateways merge, flow, and split. They are exclusive, inclusive, and parallel – which is what you might say about the gateways you’ll enter on your exploration through a universe of evocative, inspirational, and alchemic art.
Kaye Freeman
Freeman explores the transformative micro and macro interconnections of the environment, the self, and nature. Freeman works in painting, drawing, performance, and film, as she takes viewers on a passionate magical mystery tour that vibrates with color and surges with light and movement. Her images are both startlingly innovative and compellingly voluptuous.
Karen Hochman Brown
Experiencing Hochman Brown’s uniquely energetic forms and fascinating process is indeed a gateway to a new dimension, one in which her lush digital constructs is manipulated into a variety of art forms that dazzle with their own inherent mixture of line, shape, and movement. Whether working in time-based video or with fabric hangings that feature overstitching to accentuate the underlying print, her images are blissfully hypnotic.
Scott A. Trimble 
Scott A. Trimble’s work is a poetic fairytale, stories interwoven with feeling, memory, and the wonder of dreams. His writerly titles lead the viewer deep into imagery that evokes two worlds: ours, and another more surreal landscape of the mind and spirit. His art manifests memories and creates a deeply involving visual narrative that is entirely, gorgeously, his own.

All three artists’ work are gateways to a rich experience, an unfolding world. In the words of Alec Derwent Hope, the art in this exhibition serves as “the dream and…my gates of entry/The means by which I waken into light.”
Step through these gateways, and enjoy the brilliant illumination of the Scott A. Trimble, Karen Hochman Brown, and Kaye Freeman in Gateways.

Trinity Lutheran Church Manhattan Beach will join congregations across the Southwest California synod in observing Global Refuge Sunday, a day dedicated to lifting up the stories, dignity, and resilience of immigrants and refugees. This year features Krish O’Mara Vignarajah, President and CEO of Global Refuge, (formerly known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services) one of the nation’s oldest and most respected organizations serving immigrants and refugees. We will also welcome Pr. Eric Shafer, pastor in residence at Global Refuge, and Bishop Emeritus Dean Nelson, a longtime advocate for the work of Global Refuge.
Global Refuge Sunday is a time to reflect on the biblical call to welcome the stranger and to learn practical, compassionate ways to support immigrant and refugee neighbors. Trinity Lutheran Church is participating as part of its ongoing commitment to community engagement, justice, and hospitality.
Following the worship service, there will be a reception and a time for questions and answers with both guests.
