City To Issue Parking Tickets On Street Sweeping Days This Week
Street sweeping in Manhattan Beach has resumed and starting Monday, June 29, the city will issue parking tickets if you don't move your car.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Beginning Monday, June 29, the City of Manhattan Beach will resume issuing parking citations to vehicles parked on streets during the posted days and times that street sweeping occurs. Street sweeping, which went on hiatus due to Stay-at-Home restrictions, resumed two weeks ago on Monday, June 15. During that time, the city elected to not issue parking citations and instead give warnings.
Senior Management Analyst George Gabriel told Manhattan Beach Patch that the city has not issued any citations during the two-week grace period, "but the Police Department has been issuing warnings." He said the city has also been posting reminders "and will continue to post reminders on all communication platforms like the city website, Nixle, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Nextdoor and Manhattan Beach Patch.
During the street sweeping shutdown, Gabriel said the "city received very minimal complaints and the action was largely consistent with what other neighboring cities were taking due to the safer-at-home orders. Since many cars were parked on streets, it would’ve been difficult to have proper access to the curbs and very little, if any, street sweeping would’ve been accomplished. Commercial areas such as the Downtown, resumed street sweeping, following the easing of safer-at-home restrictions by the [Los Angeles] County."

Gabriel said the city did "experience some savings as a result of not expending funds toward street sweeping. The specific amount is unknown at this point."
