Easton Gym Arrives in MB

Established in 1938 in Hollywood, the gym operation that's used to dealing with people whose lives are busy and frequently take them out of town, is opening on Highland Avenue in El Porto on Monday.

Manhattan Beach resident Kris Kamm is hoping that pumping iron will be more popular than eating, drinking and doing laundry was at 4005 Highland Avenue in El Porto.

Indeed, the structure built for Harvey Washbangers of "Eat. Drink. Do Laundry." fame, a concept that never caught on in north Manhattan Beach, will now house the Easton Gym Co.

Kamm and partner Toby Johnson are holding a "soft opening" on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 3 to 6 p.m. and officially open on Monday, Feb. 27.

Sitting in an Airstream parked in the streetside lot for attention, Kamm told Manhattan Beach Patch he thinks the time is right for a full-service neighborhood gym that offers state-of-the-art fitness equipment and classes such as yoga, spinning, kickboxing and group TRX.

Memberships, which include all classes, are available on a month-to-month basis or paid-in-full for a year. The first 100 "founding members" receive a Centurion Membership.
