Elderly Woman Killed In Traffic Crash In Manhattan Beach

She was transported to a trauma center, where she succumbed to her injuries, police said.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – An elderly woman died in a traffic collision Monday afternoon in Manhattan Beach, police announced. At approximately 12:17 p.m., officers responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Cedar Way and Marine Avenue, Manhattan Beach police said.

Witnesses told police a man driving a white Ford F-150 was traveling east on Marine Avenue and turning right onto Cedar Way, while a burgundy Honda Accord was traveling south on Cedar Way from the Manhattan Village Mall. The Honda, driven by an elderly man with his elderly wife in the passenger seat, failed to stop for a red signal and collided with the Ford F-150, police said.

The driver of the Ford F-150 was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries; the elderly male was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries; and the elderly female suffered severe injuries and was transported to a trauma center. She succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, according to police.

The name of the deceased will not be released at this time, pending the notification of next of kin. The Manhattan Beach Police Department Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
