'Fearless' Kids Surf Without Sight

Kanoa Aquatics and the Braille Institute of Los Angeles partner on a surf camp for visually impaired children.

A lack of eyesight didn't stop students from the Braille Institute of Los Angeles from hitting the waves at El Porto Wednesday morning. Under the guidance of Kanoa Aquatics surf instructors, the children playfully splashed in the water and caught a wave or two.

"There are absolutely fearless kids doing so well out in the water," said Kanoa instructor Matt Brannis. "Everyone I've worked with has stood up and ridden waves all the way into the beach."

Kanoa Aquatics and the Braille Institute's surf camp is held every summer during July or August.
