Grades of Green Youth Corps Student Joshua Travels to Washington DC to Accept the President's Environmental Youth Award
Manhattan Beach Student Receives President Obama's Environmental Education Award

Grades of Green's Youth Corps student from Manhattan Beach, Joshua, was honored as a recipient of the 2015 President's Environmental Youth Award. In August 2016, Joshua flew to Washington D.C. to accept the award at the Presidential Environmental Education Awards Ceremony along with a select group of student awardees from across the country. The ceremony included speeches from Dr. John Holdren, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy; Administrator Gina McCarthy, United States Environmental Protection Agency; and Secretary John King with the United States Department of Education. Joshua received his award for his 2015-2016 Youth Corps Eco-Leadership project: a comprehensive school wide water reduction campaign. Joshua was in 5th grade when he completed this project and was the only elementary school student from Region 9 to win the award.
Grades of Green's Youth Corps Eco-Leadership Program mentors 60 selected 2nd-12th grade students to become eco-leaders by providing one-on-one guidance to select and implement a Grades of Green Project that will help protect the environment. The Youth Corps is a free, year-long program where students participate in meetings and field trips throughout the school year. Students become inspired to help the environment and empowered when they see their actions spark change. Do you know a student who is passionate about the environment?
