UPDATED: Los Angeles Air Force Base on Lockdown
Police received a report of a man at the base carrying a backpack with wires hanging out of it, and possibly a gun.

Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo was locked down for nearly four hours today after police received a report of a man at the base carrying a backpack with wires hanging out of it, and possibly a gun.
The report was made to El Segundo police around 2:30 p.m., according to El Segundo police Capt. Brian Evanski.

The base was locked down as a military officials searched the base and vehicles were not allowed to enter or leave.
The lockdown was officially over by 6:30 p.m., said Peggy Hodges, the base's public information officer.

By 9 p.m., a complete search of the facility was completed, and no suspicious person was found.
Douglas Street and El Segundo and Aviation boulevards, which surround the base, were closed, Evanski said.
