Manhattan Beach Event to Raise Funds to find Lupus cure
The local event is set for May 1st (8:00 am - 1:00 pm) at the beautiful roof-top Equinox South Bay swimming pool.
In 2009 Natalie Tun was diagnosed with lupus. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack the body's own cells and tissues, which can result in life-threatening damage to major organs. On two different occasions the disease has threatened her life, but she has since recovered enough to pursue a new mission, which is to increase lupus awareness and to help find a cure for this devastating disease.
Many people do not know that Lupus is more common than leukemia, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and cystic fibrosis combined, but unfortunately, there is no cure. For this reason, Natalie started a fund-raising event called “SwimaTun for Lupus,” which combines her passion for swimming with the need to raise funds for the Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR). The exciting news is that 100% of funds donated to ALR go directly to research to find a cure for Lupus.
