Girl, 6, Makes 100 Dresses for Girls in Local Shelters

A full-time, online school student at California Virtual Academy@ Los Angeles made dresses for girls less fortunate than herself.

There are 100 little girls wearing brand new dresses this new year, thanks to Rosanna Foss, a full-time, online school student at California Virtual Academy@ Los Angeles (CAVA) and professional actress from Manhattan Beach. She was so touched by the musical “Annie” (the old version) she decided to take the money she earned from being on “Criminal Minds” TV show to make 100 dresses for girls less fortunate than herself and deliver them in time for Christmas.

The day before Christmas, Rosanna finished the dresses, and with the help of her mother, Oxana Foss, and older sister, they boxed each dress individually. They delivered 50 dresses each to two organizations in Los Angeles: Union Rescue Mission and Alexandria House. Both were very grateful for Rosanna’s kindness.

Oxana said that they chose full-time online school at CAVA to accommodate Rosanna’s busy career as an actress—we have a lot of young professional actors and performers who find academic success at CAVA while pursuing their passion. But it also gave her the ability to sew the 100 dresses and participate in a number of other activities.

California Virtual Academies are a network of online public charter schools for students in grades K-12. The CAVA programs combine active parent involvement with highly qualified, state-certified teachers. CAVA offers students a choice to receive a more customized and flexible education, tuition-free. Rosanna’s teachers set the schedule and curriculum that meets Rosanna learning needs, and she receives all the materials she needs in the mail—books, materials for science projects, art supplies and more.

Please watch this wonderful video Rosanna’s sister made of Rosanna embarking on her project:
