South Bay Middle School Student Wins Grand Prize At Regional Art Contest
A Manhattan Beach middle schooler has been named a grand prize winner at West Basin Municipal Water District's student art contest.

A Manhattan Beach middle schooler has been named one of three grand prize winners at the West Basin Municipal Water District's student art contest.
Eighth grader Catalina Godard of Manhattan Beach Middle School is one of the winners, with the others being fourth grader Mina Esseveld of Mark Twain Elementary in Lawndale; and 11th grader Eliana Hernandez of Lennox Mathematics Science and Technology Academy in Lennox.
The annual “Being Water Wise Is...” student art contest included students from schools in Carson, Culver City, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, Manhattan Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach and Torrance.

Out of the 397 entries, one standout entrant was selected as the grand prize winner in each of the three grade categories.
The contest's theme is water sustainability.

Each grand prize-winning student received an iPad and a digital stylus and a $25 Apple Store gift card. The grand prize winners now advance to the Metropolitan Water District’s
regional competition for a chance to be featured in their 2027 Student Art Calendar.
